FORD FOCUS Estate 1.0 EcoBoost 125 experience

picture of actual car

Dear visitors this is my own review of FORD FOCUS Estate 1.0 EcoBoost 125

Had this car for hire in Majorca for 8 days and covered 1170 kilometres or 727 miles. Done motorways and towns, with traffic and without and final fuel usage figures are different from official and onboard computer. Officials average should be - 4,8 L/km (59mpg), onboard computer showed - 6,3 L/100km (44,8mpg), real figures are - 7,1 L//100km (39,8mpg). But bear in mind that this is still a hot season (September) and air conditioning was on most of the time and it was 5 people on board. So, taking all this into account we think it's fair to say that car is quite economical. Also considering size of the engine (1 litre and only 3 cylinders) car coped very well and there was no lack of power (if you switch gears at the right time).

Noise level in the salon on the motorways is acceptable but I'm quite sure not everyone would be able to live with it. As this is a hire car so equipment is lowest possible but it still had Bluetooth connectivity, air con, auto start/stop el. mirrors and window (but only for the front, rear passenger had hand operated window closers). Boot size is big enough to carry 2 medium size luggage and 3 sport bags and have rear shelf curtain closed. Interior is quite comfortable but to be honest longest distance was around 50km (30 miles). Nod bad car for hire but had driven different cars before would say overpriced by hire company. And talking about hire company want to say here had a very terrible experience know where is my fault but hire company “GOLDCAR” would recommend staying away from them and had some searches after it’s came up that “TRUSTPILOT” have some bad reviews about them too. Unacceptable behaviour by adding some extras charges without advising us, despite car rental been fully paid through different company. Will never use them again. Stupid people. Other companies offering extras and explaining how much will it cost this people added extras to me without any explanation and you know how everything works you need to provide them, with passport, driving license and credit card. When you type your pin, you presume it's for your deposit as no numbers appears on their screen and then you need to sign electronic screen to confirm you agreeing with T&C. But nobody tells you that you are signing for extras till the moment you get your paperwork. My mistake I didn't checked paperwork straight away as I was tired and relayed on hire company score that all paper works are fine, how wrong I was. Will must go through my credit card company now as those things can't be left like that.
